Great News!

Patty found the identitys of one of our unknown Albro pictures. So it has been moved to the proper place on the Albro Photo page. It is the picture of Mary Jane and George Bronson. Thank you Patty!

Sad News

It is with great sadness we note the passing of Stanley Robert Albro, 13 January, 1945 - 14 May, 2018

Major Breakthrough # 1

Several years ago, my 3 sisters and myself sent our DNA in to Ancestry to be checked.

Besides finding a brother and sister we didn't know we had (Hello Family!), Patty also found a link to the Oscar Albro who died 8 June, 1918 in Syracuse.

So, it is with 99% certainty we can say the Oscar Albro from Syracuse is in fact our Oscar Barney Albro! Our Great Grandfather! Everything fits, his father was Oliver. The links are through his sisters, Olive Cordelia Albro , Elnora Albro and Willard Albro.

This opens up a whole new line to us, and confirms our previous research back to the Oliver Albro bn. 1813 and Orpha his wife, and his father Oliver Albro Bn. 1768.

Major Breakthrough # 2

Sister Patricia has made some startling discoveries while researching Benjamin Bell, whose daughter Salina Bell married Legrande Rowe!

It appears from Newspaper articles, Benjamin Bell was in business in Jamestown, NY. making chairs.
Source: Records of woodworking in Jamestown, "The Jamestown Furniture Industry, History in Wood 1816-1920", shows Benjamin at one time was partner in Benham and Bell company in 1829, which made chairs.

Records, Newspapers and Books seem to indicate Benjamin's son, Charles Bell was a Spy/Scout for General Grant during the Civil war. When he got out, he went to South Texas to hunt outlaws. He died of consumption (Probably TB) at the Dayton, Ohio Soldier's Home in 1879.

Charles son, Frank Merrill Bell 1871-1914, was an early aviator, and had several patents to do with airplanes, one of which was to do with putting the engine in front of the pilot, rather than behind. He lost his life when one of his planes crashed during an air show.

Charles daughter, Nellye Bell 1873-1956 m. Alfred Porter Coles. Alfred had moved to El Paso, Tx. He was a Banker, into Real Estate and also big in cattle. He had a lot to do with the early settling of El Paso.
